Traditionally the owner of the goods insures their own loads, however if they make use of transporters, the transporter may make available the option of insurance. Even so it may be preferential for the owner of the goods to insure themselves, as the transporters terms may be unacceptable, or for peace of mind.

In such cases, the various types of insurance protection available are:

  1. Conventional all risks cover as per policy wording.
This will insure against all of the usual perils, to which goods are exposed whilst in transit.
E.g.: Fire, collision, overturning, theft / pilferage, water / weather damage, breakages / damages, falling of vehicle, hijacking, etc.
  2. Conventional all risks cover including deterioration of stock as per policy wording.
In addition, this will insure against deterioration of refrigerated goods such as foodstuffs, following a breakdown or malfunction of the refrigeration equipment.
  3. The above is typically the type of options available to the owner, however at Senate we will tailor make the type of cover specifically required to meet the need.
